Public Access Training
Public access training starts with a dog’s mastery of the basic obedience program and builds on that curriculum with an additional layer of training that makes the dog an expert in navigating public places with his or her human.
Off Leash Training
When training off the leash, service dogs begin to develop analytical, strategic, and social skills. Allowing them to explore, they become very aware of their surroundings. Learning through this technique can nurture an independent, alert, and responsible service dog.
POTS Syndrome (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) – Burrowing
A mobility Support Dog partnered with a person who is medically fragile might have to work during the chaos of an emergency. The dog may have set tasks that must be performed during a medical emergency, and if the Service Dog does not, the handler might become sicker, might enter a profoundly altered state of consciousness, and might be unable to summon help. This task, burrowing is the first initial task that is taught for the leg lift task that can be carried out by the dog burrowing under an unconscious handler’s legs or lying across their body to elevate their blood pressure.
